This two-day course focuses on instructional skills for teaching white water kayaking. If you are preparing for your NZOIA Kayak 1, NZOIA Class III Management or NZOIA Kayak 2, instruct for a school/club/organisation or just spend time teaching in a recreational setting then this course is for you. Modelled on an NZOIA assessment, we cover course preparation and set up, teaching theory, rolling, flatwater, moving water, river trip and rescues. Although this course has a focus on instruction, you will also have the opportunity to receive feedback on your personal skills and where you are sitting relevant to the NZOIA benchmark. Develop your teaching toolbox, share ideas and we recommend bringing a notebook with you!
